David M. Brady

Dennis Cowan graduated from Yale University in 1961 and Stanford University Law School in 1964. He has practiced law in California since graduation from law school, starting in a Redding, Calif., general civil, business and trial law firm in 1965. After years of experience in fields emphasizing consumer, business and commercial problems, he has made bankruptcy and insolvency law his sole areas of practice. This allows him to guarantee delivery of high-quality advice and services, based on up-to-date research and practices, at affordable fees. He has represented debtors, creditors, trustees and official committees in nearly 4,000 bankruptcy cases, including Chapter 7, 11, 12, 13, and even the rare Chapter 9 municipal bankruptcies. He is backed by well-trained and competent assistants. As a sole practitioner, he can maintain the luxury of independence from corporate cultures, and he and his staff give personalized service without the restraints and extra costs of larger firms.

Because of his extensive experience as a pro tem judge, arbitrator and mediator in the Shasta County Courts, as a commercial arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, and mediator for the Dispute Resolution Panel of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California, Mr. Cowan is also available for private mediation and arbitration of civil controversies.

David M. Brady was born and raised in San Francisco with an undergraduate degree in sociology with a minor in history. He also attended the University of San Francisco School of Law and graduated in 1976. He was admitted to the California Bar in December 1976. For a short time, he practiced with a general practice in San Francisco before joining the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, where he was employed for six years. He then moved to Shasta County in 1981 to work for the Shasta County District Attorney's Office. After approximately six years, he left the District Attorney's Office and joined the firm of Hanna, Brophy, McLean, McAleer, and Jensen. While working for the law firm he became a partner and served as a partner for approximately 15 years. This firm specialized in workers' compensation law. Upon retirement, he has teamed up with Dennis Cowan and now specializes in bankruptcy law.
